End of Day 2

Well, we're two days down and loving it so far. The hardest two days done (at least until we get to scottishland) and we're ready for the easy stretch - not really!

Day One
We left from John O'Groats at a spritely 4.45am and then made our way to Penzance steadily along the A30 (hang on, I think I've gone wrong somewhere). We left from Land's End at a slightly less spritely 10am and took the A30 to Penzance. Giles trapped his chain in his chainset which required some brute force and simultaneously Pete managed to destroy his rear (monster curry!). Sorry, schoolboy humour - it was a rear skewer. We then forked off towards Helston on the A394, which was a really nice road and was excellent cycling.

Then we headed off for Falmouth, Truro (A39), St. Austell (A390) and then finally Bodmin on the A391. The highlights of the day were over an hour fixing Giles many punctures and Alan falling off, though the burger van outside Falmouth also rocked. We stayed at Mena campsite in Lanevit, big shout out to them for their excellent campsite and, because we were raising money for charity, the free accomodation!

Day Two
Day two involved a set off from Lanevit and making the 6 mile jaunt to Bodmin, with some severe climbing to come. The A30 was daunting and less fun thanks to the heavy traffic and the usual lorry driver lack of respect for cyclists. We turned North at Launceston and headed up to Holsworthy on the A388, a very pretty route. Then headed towards Hatherleigh on the A3072 before carrying on into Crediton on the same road.

We stopped for some (copious) lunch at the co-op in Holsworthy. Giles had another puncture and Alan fell off again...
